Ah… after pushing myself pretty hard for the last 3 weeks, I’ve been waiting not-so-patiently for this week off from riding. No tempo pieces, no mtb long rides with oodles of hills, no dreaded max sets in the gym.

Only problem is, I’m in paradise… and paradise = play time.
This morning, I woke up to my hips aching and that familiar stabbing arch pain in my foot. Yup, too much fun yesterday. Running and hiking yesterday has already taken it toll… and I wonder how my shoulders and back will feel after today’s water sports. In terms of muscle recovery, this isn’t exactly what should be on the menu.
It’s not like living in San Diego is all that rough, especially when in comes to fun, outdoor options. We’re in Hawai’i for the week spending time with family. I’m also in the process of setting up a section of the house to make it our own and a more importantly, a workstation for me so that I can work remotely from the islands (and help out my mother-in-law, as needed). The plan is for me to bounce back and forth between San Diego and Hawai’i (I know, it’s a rough life!)
So instead of an “off” week – I should certainly categorize this as cross-training… as I’m about to hit the yoga mat and work on those tight hips & hamstrings!
